Chapter 1: Mine
Author's Notes:
MINE
"You're my gift from the sky…" Lex was saying in his lowest, most sincere voice. He was on his side, right hand nested in Clark's hair, fingers slowly contracting and spreading through the silky waves. Clark was on his back, looking up at Lex's face. His eyelids were heavy and his full lips stretched in a sleepy grin. His right arm was under the arch made by Lex's side as Lex supported himself on his left elbow.
"So precious, so beautiful and you don't even know it…" Lex's fingertips were tracing Clark's chin, jaw, lips. Pressing ever so lightly on Clark's lower lip, testing the pink elasticity, focused and determined to solve the mystery that was that mouth, even thought he knew he never would.
Clark wanted to tell Lex that he was the precious, the beautiful, but all that he could muster was a deep, long sigh. He wanted to touch Lex, to pull him closer, but the only thing his arms were willing to do was exactly…nothing. Just be there, like the rest of his stretched body. So relaxed under Lex…
"Every minute I spend away from you is wasted, no matter what I do. I pretend to everyone around me, to the world, that I care about other things that are not you…but I don't." The tone in Lex's voice was soothing, as was the feathery touch tickling Clark's neck, moving, fingers calmly splaying over his chest. Down his abdomen, left hip and back up again. Clark blinked slowly and watched Lex's eyes, devoted, follow the loving path of his hand and then return to his stare. It was the time that Clark loved the most, when Lex talked. Surely they talked, always had since the beginning. Long, short, enigmatic or open talks, always. And they talked during sex. Lex had taught Clark what he liked to hear - which was pretty much anything that Clark blurted out - and Clark had been unable to stop once he got a taste of it. Of Lex. But that was different.
"Angel…you're an angel from heaven, so perfect…" Lex leaned in closer, his right leg flexing further up Clark's thighs, his thumb stroking Clark's upper lip gently.
Clark mentally disagreed again, giving Lex's thumb drawn-out kisses in hopes that Lex would understand that he was the perfect one. Lex was smiling, maybe understanding, or perhaps simply indulging Clark, like he always did. Clark was sighing again, as Lex's fingers on his head made his scalp tingle slightly.
"Clark…" Not a calling but a whispered testament of how much Lex liked to repeat the name as often as he could. Clark buried the back of his head deeper into the pillow and smiled. If only he were not so lightheaded, he would have asked Lex to say it again. And to bring down his hand until…
"Clark…" Lex dipped his head lower, brushing his lips to Clark's right ear while his fingers closed around Clark's jaw.
"Mine," he breathed into Clark's ear, making him shudder and emit a short, weak moan.
That, Clark agreed with.
Lex lifted his upper body again, in time to see Clark's eyes roll up their sockets and thick upper eyelashes entwine with lower ones. He smiled and just watched the sleeping face for a long time.
After he was certain that Clark had fallen into a deep sleep, Lex pulled the covers up to Clark's waist and left the bed, stealthily. Went to the dresser and opened the lead box there. Slipped the altered gold stone ring off his finger and put it away, pushing on the lid of the box to make sure that it was tightly closed. Walked around the bed, collected the three wine bottles from the bedside table, took them to the kitchen.
A good thing about Clark only being able to get drunk under the influence of gold kryptonite was that he would suffer no hangover at all in the morning. It was also true that the marks that Lex had made on Clark's neck, hips and thighs would also be gone by then, but at least the stone allowed them to be made.
Clark had sprawled himself farther out on the bed by the time Lex returned. With a soft chuckle, Lex climbed back on the bed and nestled his head on Clark's shoulder. As a typical reaction, Clark rolled on his side and pulled Lex into his arms, slipping a leg between Lex's and kissing his forehead. Protecting Lex even as he slept, and loving him.
"Mine…" was all that Clark uttered, making Lex nod happily as he closed his eyes and sighed against Clark's chest.
